We went down to town, shopping as I mentioned. We made only one stop at this shopping mall, massive shopping mall. The things here are bloody expensive. Just imagine, a BK meal would cost 4 pounds. That's 4 x 3.12 = 12 odd SGD. For a normal meal, no upsize. And to clear the common fallacy, it isnt any bigger than Singapore's serving. But the fashon in England is superior to that in Singapore. But as I mentioned, the prices was 3 times more after conversion.
I stopped by Topman, surprised to see them having sale. So I bought 2 t-shirts there. My first Topman items! I'll post pics of the t-shirts later. But they have very nice prints on em'. Hilarious one-liners! =)
My cousin, 12 years older than me, dropped by for dinner with Fish n Chips! That happens to be a common meal for Britons. Like chicken rice is to us, fishNchips are to them. His two kids just dropped off the car and ran to gimme a huge hug! Awww, they're so sweet! I've never seen them before, that's how it's like in the UK; the people are absolutely warm. Jacob and Tom are the little ones.
Played soccer with Jacob at a nearby field, that boy has some skills there. Tom's only 5 yrs old, but he's so adorable. We were playing Snakes and Ladders, and I rolled onto the snake twice but he changed the rules to allow me to skip past the fall. *melts* Went over to my cousin's house to watch Liverpool vs Juventus after dinner and all. (:
14th April. Thursday.
We went on a scenic tour today. Courtesy of my aunt who drove us around the hills and small villages. We visted 4 different locations today; the hill near our house, Nauton( pronounced as Norton), Lower and Upper Slaughters and Bourton on the Waters.
The hill was high up, overlooking Gloucestor. Early in the morning, a thin fog was settling cooling the atmosphere with morning air. Several people were already up there walking their mutt. We took photos and surveyed acrossed the lower plains to the horizon beyond. If the air was any fresher, you'd have to breathe it yourself. hahaha.
Driving for 20 minutes down to Nauton, we drove past sheeps and horses. Sounds like boring stupid stuff eh? But we never experience any of these in Singapore, mind you. To be able to see and smell the sheep was a luxury for my mum and I. I begin to appreciate the minutest details around. The town of Nauton was rumored to be a village of witchcraft in the old ages. Expecting a dark and dinghy village, I was amazed to see a cosy area with a church as the main point of interest.
One thing to note would be the bricks they use. Without using cement, builders carefully interlock the special bricks known as Cotswold bricks together to form a wall or barrier. These handicraft is expensive and unique to the villages in the Cotswold county.
Next stop, moving on to Lower and Upper Slaughters. What a name eh? We don't know why it's called that, so don't ask. We walked about 3 miles pass a field of sheep and wide open green English grounds. On the way, we walked past a couple of groups and they never fail to say "Good morning" or "Hello"... Genuine greetings you know.. not like those sale people in stores that do what they're paid. Deeply impressed with the locals. (:
We walked from Lower to Upper, then back to Lower Slaughters. There after, we drove down to our final stop. In Bourton on the Waters, (yes another kooky name), we observed a canal running through the middle of the town. Ducks and trout swam in the waters while old foggies fed them with bread. The water was crystal clear and entirely without trash. The people in England really protect they're enviroment without much "fines". I see no "£500 fine" signs anywhere in the towns. Ahh, I wonder why ?
Think about it.
Stopped to have lunch in a eatery. Had beef lagsane, baked to perfection! The cheese melted over the meat to secure the layers from falling apart. The only thing better than the smell of the piping hot dish was the taste. I find no other dish providing tastes that work so well together. The pastry with the cheese, the cheese with the meat, the meat with the pastry. Whoa, if a Singapore girl could bake a better lagsane, she'll have the key to my heart forever I promise!
Continuing, we visited a exhibiton of Bourton on a smaller scale. They actually built a miniature village, modeled exactly like that of Bourton. Nothing really fantastic but I liked the feeling of feeling big! Charlzilla terrorising the village of Bourton! Roawrrr!
Ohwells, had nice time updating, hope you people do well in Singapore. Dinner's about to be served while you people are probably asleep! Sausages and bread tonight, no more fancy English meals.. for now. Muahaha, cheerio~
