Arrived in Thailand in the evening, at 7pm the sky was already dark as could be. Not like Singapore where the night comes only after 8. Everyone transited at my Dad's place except for Xie Jun. At this point of time, our lugguages were still rather light and compact. Not more than two medium sized bags each. What was fascinating then was the price of the houses in Thailand; a 3 storey house costs about 1.6 million Baht, after coversion, only 66 thousand dollars! That's even lesser than a 3-room flat in Singapore! Inspired to move there mans... If only. (Can I be a little our of point and say I miss Sarah and the rest of the Tengah people?) Alright, thank you. If you haven got it yet, I thought of Sarah several times during the entire trip. Maybe cos Danny and Evon were around.. but everything I see also reminds me of her.. Oh the horror.
Messaged her last night. Asked about her holidays. Dint get a response though. But I already expected that, really. I hope she likes the birthday present I got for her from Thailand. It's perfectly understandable if she rejects it altogether. Putting a smile on her face, a real smile.. it's a dream, far-fetched as could be...
Day2... Saturday.
Off we went, early in the morning, to check into the hotel situated near major shopping facilities. Waited for Xia Jun to join us, but due to some screw up, ended up meeting him at Maboonkrong, or MBK, Bangkok's heaven for fashion and cheap buys. And I mean it! There is not exageration when I say MBK is a combination of Takashimaya, Lot 1, Sim Lim and Jurong point! Imagine 7 levels of clothes, electronic devices, food, games, souveniors, toys and BARGAINS! We managed to walk only 2 whole levels of that place in 4 hours.
Returned to the hotel to deposit our spoils of war. Then on we went to Khao San. A Thai version of Bugis street. During the weekends, many students come here to hangout at the bars. Caught an Arsenal match against Tottenham. Ate some fried bean sprouts called Pat Thai from a road-side stall. Loads to look at in this street, babes and fashion alike. At one point of time, Xia Jun and me were walking and girls, mostly in pairs or threesomes waltzed pass.
But there was one. I should say THE ONE. We followed her from the start of the street to the end, then back again! Crazy eh?.. If I could describe her with one sentence it would be.. "The girl who can make tranverstites lesbians." At around 10pm, Junhong, XiaJun, Evon and Danny went for a massage, I went to walk somemore. Took a closer look at a Nike Dunk that happened to be my dream shoes. 1700 baht, sadly not my size! Wells, went further with my sister to another street filled with more bars. Awesome sight me tells you! Night life in Thailand attracted me so much that I've decided to place that into my itinery for next trip.
Day 3... Sunday
Met mua bestest of buds at their hotel in the morning. Bringing them to Jatujak, weekend market. Another mega complex for shopping pleasure. We dint manage to walk EVERY shop in that area also -_-" So much unfinished business huh? But sastified with the buys anyways. I never enjoyed myself so much anywhere else! Watching my friends buy, experiencing myself spend money... The feeling is almost.. ORGASMIC!! hahaa....
At Jatujak, they had pets for sale too! Puppies and kittens. Squirrels. Snakes. Turkies. Spiders. Lizards. Crocodiles. Birds. A golden retreiver costs only S$300, so said Evon. Entices me even more to get a Chow Chow in Thailand cos they grow to be so masculine!... Or a Shetland sheepdog. Spoiled for choices actually!
CONTINUED.... For dinner on that day, we went seperate ways. The slacker gang went to eat dinner at the hotel restuarant while I had dinner with my Dad's brother in Siam Centre. It was yet another buffet-style dinner, something like Marina South's steamboat buffet with air-conditioned surroundings and comfortable chairs. Tried to keep a low profile the entire duration of dinner cos I seriously couldn't speak the language that well. Ended up answering a few questions and that's all. *pheww*. Rendezvous-ed with the gang at MBK after their shopping. Missed the entire action by the time I got there. Shops close at 9 - 10pm there, a shame huh? Proceeded to the hotel and stayed over for the night. Dozed off on the sofa while watching FashionTV instead of the bed Junhong and XieJun prepared. Zzz...
Day 4... Monday
Woke up to another round of FashionTV! What is this nonsense about FashionTV you ask? Well, basically, its a cable channal that airs nothing but fashion shows from around the globe. Cat walks from Milan, China and Chile to on location photo shoots in Mexico. Nothing I like more than a channal with hot babes (duhhh) and music. Not to mention nipples? Hahaha. Now the theme song for "Les Createurs" is stuck in my head.. (: You have got to be there to understand.
Monday was the last full day we would get to spend in Thailand, wasted no time and chionged MBK again! Last minute shopping saw Evon buyin bags bags and more bags; XieJun buying shirts shirts and more shirts... Junhong worrying worrying and even more worrying about what to get and Danny oogling oogling and oogling at a Gundam model we all saw. Sadness, had to leave Thailand so soon, hours pass there like minutes!
Our final dinner was at this "Oishi" restaurant. Buffet includes oysters, prawns, snow fish, sashimi, beef, bacon and a sushi bar. Each person had to pay S$16, but all I can say is, thank you Bank of Thailand. (: Dinner was laid-back, we took our time to savour the last few hours. And when we thought that was it.. back to Singapore the next morning.. BAM! We found ourselves on the way to Silom Night Market! Things there werent cheap, but unique nick-nacks could be found there. Porn VCD sellers caught our attention... not cos of their products.. but cos of the way they pitched.. imagine hearing "VCD,sed movie."... Yea, it's sad alright... No one seemed interested at all~ My favourite stall in Silom was the movie t-shirt shop. For purchases of 10 or more t-shirts, we managed to get each at 150 baht! And the shirts came in these collectable cans, bought a Battle Royale shirt and a 28 Days Later one.
Junhong wanted to study for his sub paper, so they went back earlier. My sister brought me down to another street famous for it's night life for teenagers. There was "Route 66" and "SLIM", (Siam Live in Motion). Both clubs had classy exterior decor, packed even on a weekday night.
